Apple Health → Garmin Connect

Your Apple Health history.
Now in Garmin Connect.

Garmin's own Apple Health link only carries across about two weeks, then syncs forward. Your years of history stay stranded on the iPhone. Wearable Converter moves your full Apple Health daily history into Garmin Connect: steps, distance, calories, floors, exercise minutes, weight and body fat. It runs in your browser, and it removes the Watch plus iPhone double counting that wrecks naive conversions.

The part everyone gets wrong

Your export
counts everything twice

Apple Health logs the same metric from every device you own. Your Watch records your steps. Your iPhone records the same steps. The Health app quietly hides the overlap on screen, but the raw export contains every copy.

The trap

Naive sum: 1.98M steps

Add every record in a real 10-month export and you get 1.98 million steps. The scripts and generic converters floating around do exactly this.

The truth

Actual steps: 1.22M

The true figure was 62% lower. Import the naive number and your Garmin history is permanently wrong, every day inflated, every record suspect.

The fix

Highest source wins

Wearable Converter totals each device separately per day, keeps the highest single source, and never adds two devices together. Third-party apps writing into HealthKit are handled the same way.

Why a converter at all

Garmin's Apple Health link
doesn't move history

The native connection carries across roughly the last two weeks, then syncs new days forward. Everything older stays on the iPhone. Garmin Connect's importer accepts historical wellness data in exactly one format, and Apple's export.xml is not it. Wearable Converter reads your export, removes the device overlap, and writes precisely the files Garmin's importer accepts, split by year.

How it works

Four steps.
Done in under 15 minutes.

No cables, no companion apps, no uploads. If you can find the Health app, you can do this.

01. Export from your iPhone

Open the Health app, tap your profile picture in the top right, scroll down and tap Export All Health Data, then confirm. Preparing can take a few minutes on big libraries. Save the resulting export.zip to Files, or AirDrop it to your computer.

02. Run the converter

Drop export.zip into Wearable Converter. It streams the file in your browser, so even multi-hundred-megabyte exports work, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. Watch and iPhone overlap is merged automatically. Exports over 200 MB convert best on a desktop browser.

03. Download your files

Get Garmin-ready CSV files split by year: daily activity files plus a body composition file with weight, derived BMI, and body fat where your export contains it.

04. Import to Garmin

On a desktop browser, open connect.garmin.com, choose Import Data, and upload each file, oldest year first. Pick the same units and date format you chose in the converter when Garmin asks. Your history appears in Health Stats within about an hour.

What transfers

Everything that
Garmin supports.

Garmin Connect has hard limits on what historical data it accepts, from any platform. We convert everything it allows and we are upfront about the rest.

✓ Included in conversion

Daily Steps
Complete daily step counts, de-duplicated across Watch, iPhone, and any app writing into HealthKit
Distance
Daily walking and running distance, in km or miles, your choice
Calories Burned
Active plus resting energy combined into daily totals, exactly how Garmin's importer expects them
Floors Climbed
From Apple's flights climbed records, straight into Garmin's floors metric
Exercise Minutes
Apple Exercise Time imports as very active minutes and shows up as Garmin Intensity Minutes
Weight, BMI & Body Fat %
Weight entries with BMI derived from your height record, plus body fat % where a smart scale wrote it into Apple Health, no Garmin Index scale needed

, Not supported by Garmin

Heart Rate, HRV & SpO2
Garmin Connect has no import format for historical vitals, from any platform
Sleep History
Historical sleep stages can't be imported to Garmin Connect
Individual Workout Sessions
Session-by-session files use a different Garmin import path. Their steps and calories are already inside your daily totals, so nothing is lost from the daily history
Very old day-level detail
Setting up a new iPhone or Watch can reset day-level history in Apple's own export. The converter reports the exact date range your export contains, before you import anything

FAQ

Common
questions.

Doesn't Garmin already sync with Apple Health?
Garmin Connect can link to Apple Health, but the connection only brings across roughly the last two weeks and then syncs forward. It does not migrate your history. Wearable Converter is for the history: it converts your full Apple Health export into the CSV format Garmin's importer accepts.
How far back will my data go?
As far back as your export contains day-level records. One honest caveat: setting up a new iPhone or Apple Watch can reset the day-level detail, so workouts often reach further back than daily totals. The converter reports the exact date range it finds in your export before you import anything.
Why is my step total lower than just adding everything up?
Because your Apple Watch and iPhone both record the same steps, and the raw export contains every copy. In the first real export we converted, summing every source gave 1.98 million steps when the true figure was 1.22 million, a 62 percent inflation. The converter keeps the highest single source per day and never adds two devices together, so the lower number is the correct one.
Can I import sleep, heart rate, or HRV?
No. Garmin Connect has no import path for historical sleep, heart rate, HRV, or SpO2 from any platform, Fitbit included. That is a Garmin limit, not a converter limit. The converter moves everything Garmin accepts: daily activity totals and body composition.
Do I need to enter my height?
Only if your export has no height record. Garmin's body file includes BMI, which is derived from weight and height. Most Apple Health exports include height, and the converter uses it automatically. If yours does not, there is an optional height field on the tool page.
Will my smart scale body fat transfer?
Yes. If your scale writes body fat percentage into Apple Health, those records convert and import, which normally requires Garmin's own Index scale. Weight and derived BMI come across with them.
How big can my export be?
The converter streams the export rather than loading it whole, so multi-hundred-megabyte files work. For exports over about 200 MB, use a desktop browser rather than a phone. Nothing is uploaded either way, the whole conversion runs on your device.
Where do I export from, iPhone or Watch?
The iPhone. Open the Health app, tap your profile picture, then Export All Health Data. Your Watch data is already inside that export because the Watch syncs to the phone.
Is my health data uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your export never leaves your device, and we never see it.
I already bought Wearable Converter. Do I pay again for Apple Health?
No. One licence covers every supported source: Fitbit, Google Health, and Apple Health. Apple Health support is included for existing keys at no extra cost.
