My app now says Google Health, does this still work?
Yes. The Fitbit app became Google Health on 19 May 2026, but Google Takeout still exports your data in the same Fitbit-labelled format. The underlying file structure hasn't changed, only the app branding on your phone. Wearable Converter works exactly the same whether you see Fitbit or Google Health on your device.
Is my data safe?
Yes. The converter runs entirely in your browser, your data is never uploaded to any server. We never see it, store it, or have access to it. The only thing that touches our servers is the licence key validation.
How do I get my Fitbit or Google Health data?
Use
this direct link to open Google Takeout with Fitbit already selected (the export is still labelled Fitbit even after the Google Health rebrand). Request a download and Google will email you a link to a ZIP file, that's what you drop into Wearable Converter. The process usually takes a few minutes to a few hours depending on how much data you have.
How long does conversion take?
For most people with 2 to 4 years of data, conversion takes 30 to 90 seconds in the browser. Importing into Garmin Connect takes a few minutes more. You upload one CSV file per year.
Why does Garmin sometimes show an upload error?
This is a known bug in Garmin Connect's importer that affects all CSV uploads, not specific to our files. The data almost always imports successfully despite the error message. Simply retry the upload and it will go through. Garmin is aware of the issue.
What if I need to convert again?
Your licence key includes 5 conversions, more than enough for any Fitbit migration. Re-run if something goes wrong, try different settings, or convert a fresh Takeout export. This key is for your personal use only, one account, one migration.
Why isn't all my data transferring?
Some data types, like heart rate history, sleep stages, and individual workout details, simply cannot be imported into Garmin Connect. This is a limitation of what Garmin's platform accepts, not a limitation of our tool. We transfer everything Garmin allows.
Do I need to create an account?
No account needed. After purchase, you receive a licence key by email. Enter that key on the tool page and you're ready to go.
Does my Takeout export need to be recent?
Yes, we strongly recommend requesting a fresh Google Takeout export immediately before converting. Fitbit syncs data to Google's servers in batches, so older exports can contain incomplete data for recent dates, which causes Garmin's importer to reject those files. Use
this direct link to request a fresh copy.
What are the Fitbit deadlines?
Since 19 May 2026, you can no longer sign in with an old Fitbit account; a Google account is now required to access Fitbit. The date still ahead is 15 July 2026, when Google begins permanently deleting Fitbit data for anyone who never migrated. If you created your Fitbit account recently or bought a device in the last two years, you're likely already on a Google account. If you want your history in Garmin, export it now and don't wait until July.
Can I get my body fat % into Garmin without buying their scale?
Yes, and this is one of the most underrated things Wearable Converter does. Garmin normally only accepts body fat % data from their own Garmin Index smart scale, which costs USD $220+. But if you logged body fat % in Fitbit (via a Fitbit Aria scale or manual entry), Wearable Converter transfers that historical data directly into Garmin Connect. You get years of body composition history in Garmin without spending a cent on their scale. If you just want to add a single body composition entry manually, try our
free body composition CSV generator.
Can't I just do this myself for free?
Technically yes, but it involves parsing hundreds of JSON files, handling unit conversions, correcting for timezone offsets, merging data across years, and formatting everything to Garmin's exact CSV spec. We've done all that work so you don't have to. Wearable Converter handles it in under 90 seconds for $9.
How long does the email with my key take to arrive?
Usually within a few minutes. If you're using Outlook, Hotmail or a Microsoft email address, it may take longer due to Microsoft's email filtering, check your spam folder if it hasn't arrived after 10 minutes. Gmail users typically receive it instantly.
